Hi! I’m Yukwo Xiao (肖雨果), but YOU can call me Simon (and only youuu).

I’m a young conductor, student pianist, and self-taught composer. I’ve been playing piano technically since I was 4 in 2016, but it was on and off until like late 2024ish when I finally began to take music more seriously.

I was born in Hong Kong and raised in Beijing, and then I moved to good ol’ Canada when I was 4 and I currently reside in St. Catharines, Ontario. (woahh composer who doesn’t live in toronto or a major city???)

I actually write a lot of my music based on my real-life personal stories which usually makes them very personal to me. My biggest piece, “Symphonie de Roses” is a deeply personal reflection of my current life (as of June 2026) and something I’m actively going through. The third movement is actually based on one of my dreams from at some point in June.

Since the stupid ass stories I base my pieces off of are so personal, some stories actually will not be shared until I decide the time is right. But hey maybe if your close enough to me I’ll tell you everything on a call at 2 am heheeee

~Projects~

As of June 2026, I’m planning 2 MAJOR public performances. Such as…

  • A piano recital hopefully sometime late 2026-early 2027ish? I’ll be performing a selection (HAND PICKED BY MEEEEE) that includes a piece I wrote myself called “A Life I Was Meant to Have” which already by the title you can tell is pretty pretty personal lol. and the rest is a collection of pieces I played as apart of my levels for my pwetty little RCM levels as well as just random pieces I thought would go along pretty well with the mood of the recital.

  • and of course the World Premiere of “Symphonie de Roses”
